A blurb: What is it about dogs that endears us to them? Why do we shower them with gifts, and treat them as children? Perhaps we are undone by their unquestionable love and devotion. Maybe it’s because of their contagious joy, or the hope and wonder we see in their eyes. A dog’s faith in us rests on the likelihood that we love them as much as they love us.

“When the Dogs Bark,” takes readers on a journey spanning twenty-six years. During that time, I navigated marriage, children, work, and my father’s battle with cancer.  Dogs remained by my side through all of it, teaching me without words.  I also learned that a dog’s love and devotion for its owner can serve as a model for a relationship with God.

For most people, it’s easy enough to describe the relationship they have with their dog, but how does one characterize a relationship with God? I’ve discovered dogs have a lot to say about that when I took the time to watch them and reflect on what I observed. Perhaps it’s not such a coincidence that God spelled backwards is d-o-g.
