I spent some time in Brockport, NY recently signing books at the Lift Bridge Book Shop. I had a great time talking to patrons of the book shop while listening to 70s and 80s music from street musicians entertaining the crowd gathered outside for the weekly farmers market.
In addition to the book signing, I participated in a virtual author interview. In the interview I had a chance to talk about my target audience, what question I wished readers would ask me, and what I hoped readers would take away from reading my book. I also briefly discussed my writing process and the best advice I received as a writer. I summed up the interview with these words, “I believe in divine providence, that God involves Himself in the affairs of men. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.” The interview can be found at https://www.bookeccentric.com/2025/08/william-roushey.html.

Bill Roushey’s novel, The Race Against Time, was a delightful quick read which transported me back to my college days. Those were the days of beginning adulthood filled with scholastic studies, new independence, blossoming love, figuring out who I am and who I want to become and how do I get there. The author is descriptive in chronicling each of these areas. At times I was holding my breath and other times I was laughing out loud. It was encouraging to me that the main character found his Lord to be faithful. Mr. Roushey, you must write the next book. I want to know the rest of the story of Carson and Paige!
Thank you for your kind words Nancy. The sequel to this story is currently being written. It is sure to be full of surprises as Paige has her own set of obstacles to navigate. Look for a heartfelt Christ-centered romance immersed in nostalgia.
